INDIANA FISCAL POLICY INSTITUTE SELECTS

STEVEN R. JOHNSON AS NEW PRESIDENT

David Kelly, Chairman of the Board of the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute, announced today that the Institute Directors have chosen Steven R. Johnson to succeed William J. Sheldrake as Institute President.  Johnson, a former Indiana State Senator, will assume his duties on October 13.

“We are indeed fortunate to get an individual of Steve Johnson’s ability and expertise,” said Kelly.  “The Board of Directors feels very strongly that he will maintain and build upon the record of credibility and integrity that has characterized the Institute.”

Among his many accomplishments during his twenty-year legislative career, Johnson served on the both the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Committee.  For the past year he has served as government services director at Leagre, Chandler & Millard LLP, an Indianapolis law firm.  Johnson earned an MBA from Indiana University Graduate School of Business and a BS in Chemistry, also from Indiana University.  He resides in Indianapolis with his wife Mary Beth Fisher-Johnson.

The Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute, established in 1987, is an independent, statewide, non-partisan, non-governmental public policy research organization focused on state and local policy issues in Indiana.  Through its research on state pensions, education, tax policy and the economy, the Indiana Fiscal Policy Institute has contributed to the process of policy development on problems of both immediate and long-term interest to Indiana citizens.
